Pur­pose of the position

Inde­pen­dent Schools Tas­ma­nia (IST) is a non-prof­it organ­i­sa­tion whose core pur­pose is to serve the inde­pen­dent schools of Tas­ma­nia through rep­re­sen­ta­tion, advo­ca­cy and support.

The pur­pose of this posi­tion is to sup­port schools to devel­op, main­tain and enhance qual­i­ty teach­ing, qual­i­ty learn­ing, empow­er school lead­er­ship and to meet stu­dent needs.

The schools to be sup­port­ed and the areas of sup­port will be as direct­ed by the Deputy Exec­u­tive Direc­tor, Inde­pen­dent Schools Tasmania.

Respon­si­bil­i­ties & duties

Respon­si­bil­i­ty 1 – To sup­port inde­pen­dent schools to imple­ment edu­ca­tion reform ini­tia­tives includ­ed in the Bilat­er­al Agree­ment between the Com­mon­wealth and Tas­man­ian governments.

Respon­si­bil­i­ty 2 – To sup­port inde­pen­dent schools to imple­ment edu­ca­tion reform ini­tia­tives includ­ed in annu­al NGRSF work plan but not part of the Bilat­er­al Agreement.

Respon­si­bil­i­ty 3 – To sup­port inde­pen­dent schools in oth­er pro­grams fund­ed by the Tas­man­ian State government.

Respon­si­bil­i­ty 4 – To assist the Deputy Exec­u­tive Direc­tor to facil­i­tate pro­fes­sion­al learn­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for inde­pen­dent school lead­ers and teachers.

Details of rela­tion­ships rel­e­vant to this role:

• The Deputy Exec­u­tive Direc­tor will pro­vide ongo­ing sup­port and supervision.
• Col­lab­o­rate with the IST Con­sul­tan­cy team.
• Build trust and respect of inde­pen­dent school lead­ers and teachers.
