Launce­s­ton Chris­t­ian School (TAS) is a sin­gle cam­pus co-edu­ca­tion­al inde­pen­dent K – 12 school which pro­vides a car­ing and stim­u­lat­ing envi­ron­ment for learn­ing. The school is dis­tinc­tive­ly Christ-cen­tred and is com­mit­ted to pro­vid­ing effec­tive spir­i­tu­al, emo­tion­al, phys­i­cal and aca­d­e­m­ic sup­port for all its stu­dents. LCS places a sig­nif­i­cant empha­sis on the part­ner­ship between home and school cre­at­ing a warm, sup­port­ive, infor­mal cul­ture in which strong rela­tion­ships are built among stu­dents, staff and families. 

We are seek­ing to appoint a Head of Junior School to join our team in Jan­u­ary 2024. This is an impor­tant lead­er­ship role and forms an inte­gral part of the school Lead­er­ship Team. 

About the Role:

The Head of Junior School pro­vides out­stand­ing and impact­ful lead­er­ship, man­age­ment and admin­is­tra­tion of the Junior School in accor­dance with the vision, val­ues, mis­sion and ethos of Launce­s­ton Chris­t­ian School.

What we offer:
  • Salary range of $128,000 — $133,000 (includes annu­al leave loading)
  • Min­i­mum of 10 weeks com­bined annu­al and school hol­i­day leave

  • Rea­son­able relo­ca­tion expens­es for the suc­cess­ful applicant
The suc­cess­ful appli­cant will be:
  • A com­mit­ted Chris­t­ian with an evi­dent per­son­al rela­tion­ship with Jesus Christ, evi­denced by reg­u­lar atten­dance and engage­ment in a local church com­mu­ni­ty. The expres­sion of that faith will be con­sis­tent with LCS’s State­ment of Faith.
  • Able to apply Bib­li­cal per­spec­tives to the day-to-day run­ning of the school and to lead in a Chris­t­ian man­ner. Show a pas­sion and vision for the devel­op­ment of Chris­t­ian Edu­ca­tion in the school.
  • A rela­tion­al leader with excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and a pas­sion for build­ing culture.
  • Com­mit­ted to build­ing and sus­tain­ing aca­d­e­m­ic excellence.
  • A respect­ed prac­ti­tion­er with appro­pri­ate aca­d­e­m­ic qual­i­fi­ca­tions, lead­er­ship expe­ri­ence, up-to-date knowl­edge of cur­ricu­lum and ped­a­gogy and an ongo­ing com­mit­ment to pro­fes­sion­al improve­ment. Reg­is­tra­tion with the Tas­man­ian Teacher’s Reg­is­tra­tion Board (TRB) is essential.
  • A com­pe­tent, pro­fes­sion­al man­ag­er in areas such as bud­get­ing, staffing, plan­ning and policy.
