Christian Schools Tasmania (CST) is currently seeking expressions of interest from passionate, visionary and inspiring Christian educators with exceptional leadership skills for the role of Principal, Emmanuel Christian School, to commence January 2023 or earlier by negotiation.
About this role
Reporting directly to CST’s Chief Executive Officer, the Principal will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of an independent co-educational K‑10 Christian school, located on Hobart’s beautiful Eastern Shore. Emmanuel has enrolments of 260 students and a staff of 48.

Emmanuel Christian School is part of Christian Schools Tasmania. The Association currently owns and operates four schools in Southern Tasmania.

Christian Schools Tasmania currently operates four schools in southern Tasmania. Each school has a Principal who is responsible for the educational leadership and management of the school.
A Board of Directors, through the CEO, governs the affairs of Christian Schools Tasmania. The Board is committed to operating in ways that utilise the strengths of being one Association, whilst recognising that each school in unique, and is led by the Principal appointed to that school. The Board expresses this commitment by establishing overarching guidelines or policies that guide the operational leadership of the Executive members.
About you
As the ideal candidate, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- A highly regarded pedagogical leader in a K‑10 school environment.
- Exceptional communication, strategic, management and administration skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of key stakeholders, including members of CST’s Executive, Emmanuel’s Senior Leadership Team, as well as teaching and support staff at the school.
- A willingness to understand, embrace and nurture CST’s core values with an alignment to the organisation’s Statement of Faith.
- A commitment to promoting students’ spiritual and academic growth, wellbeing and resilience.
- A proven track record of building positive culture within a school community.

3. The names and contact numbers of at least four (4) confidential referees. These must include:
- Applicant’s present or previous employer (either Principal or Chair of the School Council/Board);
- A person who is familiar with the applicant’s academic and professional background and recent experience;
- A person who can authoritatively comment on the applicant’s personal qualities and capacity to lead;
- Preferably a Pastor or Minister of a church or a person able to comment on the applicant’s Christian faith and spiritual leadership.
