Middle Leadership Development Program
Independent Schools Tasmania in partnership with AISNSW
Based on a successful partnership in 2025, it is exciting to offer a strengthened Middle Leadership Development Program in 2026. This program develops the personal qualities, leadership knowledge, and skills needed to navigate the complex role of middle leadership. It equips participants to more effectively influence their teams, enhance the quality of teaching and learning, and positively impact student outcomes.
Key Aims
- Build leadership capacity grounded in theory and practice.
- Strengthen relational leadership skills to enhance communication and teamwork.
- Apply research-based models for leading change in school contexts.
- Connect with colleagues as well as senior leaders from Tasmanian independent schools.
Term 1 (Monday 23 – Tuesday 24 Feb)
Day 1: Exploring understandings of leadership – theory, practice, purpose, self.
Day 2: Relational leadership – courageous conversations, feedback, small experiments.
Term 2 (Tuesday 9 – Wednesday 10 June)
Day 3: Leading change – values-centred leadership, improvement, panel session, poster presentations, celebration dinner.
Day 4: Leading individuals and teams – aligning to purpose, effectiveness, and safety.
Additionally, each participant will have the opportunity to:
- Shadow an experienced school leader in a Tasmanian independent school.
- Participate in a one-to-one 40-minute online coaching session with the Program Lead (Adam Lear)
