Who is speaking
In Term 4 this year Independent Schools Tasmania (IST) and the Tasmanian branch of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools Australia (AHISA) will proudly commence a series of breakfast seminars for Aspiring School Leaders on a range of topics related to Principalship.
These seminars are for all educators who have aspirations or are inquisitive about the role of a Principal, from how to go about getting your first Principalship through to the elements of the role and working effectively with the school Board/Council and Chairperson.
The first of the seminars will be held on Friday 5 November 2021, at C3 Convention Centre, commencing at 7.00 am and concluding at 8.15 am.
The topic for the inaugural seminar will be hosted by Chrissy Gamble, with a joint presentation by Penny Curran Peters, Principal of the Fahan School, and Andy Müller, Principal of Scotch Oakburn College and Chair of AHISA Tasmania.
We strongly encourage all aspiring leaders to attend, gain invaluable information for your next step as an educational leader and catch up with colleagues.
What you will learn
The recruitment process for a Principalship is very likely to be a totally new experience and our seminar will include areas such as:
- being brave enough to have a go,
- constructing the application,
- the normal phases of the process,
- what to do if you get the job, and what to do if you don’t, and
- other pertinent aspects of the process.

There will be a small cost to cover the venue hire and breakfast for schools who are not IST Member Schools. The cost is: $30.00 and can be paid upon registration.
