Why Moderate Writing Across Schools?
Moderation is all about working together to make sure we’re making consistent and fair judgements about student writing based on the Australian Curriculum. But it’s also so much more than that!
- It’s a chance to learn from each other’s practice.
- It’s a rich professional learning opportunity and a great way to build your teaching network.
- It helps improve student learning by linking what we assess with how we teach.
Moderation is a key element of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (Focus Area 5.3), highlighting its importance across all stages of our profession.
We’ll use student writing samples to explore:
- How to interpret the Achievement Standards (Australian Curriculum v9.0).
- What students need to do to meet those standards.
- What success looks and sounds like
