- What well structured MTSS looks like in different school contexts.
- Common pitfalls and ways to avoid these.
- What MTSS looks like for students requiring extensive curriculum adjustments.
About our guest speaker:
Dr Kate de Bruin is a Senior Lecturer, School of Curriculum Teaching & Inclusive Education at Monash University.
Kate's research has focussed on Evidence-based instruction and intervention in reading, writing and behaviour; Multi-Tiered Systems of Support; Disability legislation, policy and funding and Universal Design for Learning.
Kate has completed research for Commonwealth, State and Catholic Education Departments.
She served as a member of the Tasmanian Literacy Panel 2022-2023 and was called as an expert witness for the Royal Commission into Violence, Neglect, Abuse and Exploitation of Persons with Disability where she spoke about barriers experienced by children and young people with disability in accessing safe, quality and inclusive education.
Kate regularly provides professional learning to educators, and she writes for both academics as well as readers from the general public.
Kate's research focuses on school wide and classroom practices that support all students to participate, engage and make progress in learning.
Her current projects explore differentiated teaching and learning interventions that fit within Tiers 1 and 2 of multi-tiered systems of support.
